Eye diseases can be diagnosed using a variety of tests, including:
- Amsler grid test: Tests central vision clarity
- Optical coherence tomography (OCT): Captures detailed images of the retina
- Fundus autofluorescence (FAF): Determines the stage of retinal diseases, including macular degeneration
- Fluorescein angiography: Uses a dye to make blood vessels in the retina visible under special light
- Indocyanine green angiography: Uses a dye that lights up when exposed to infrared light
- Ultrasonography: Uses sound waves to create a two-dimensional image of the inside of the eye
- Ophthalmoscopy: Also called funduscopy
- Slit-lamp examination
- Tonometry
- Disclosing agents: Fluorescent substances that help diagnose and treat certain eye conditions
